We're pleased to announce the second biennial Young Artist's Harp Competition, July 8–10, 2010, in Rabun Gap, Ga. The competition was launched in 2007 by the Young Artist's Harp Seminar as a way to encourage young harpists to strive for a high level of artistic achievement by providing them with an open forum for performance, positive feedback, and nurturing competition. The competition's goal is to give each competitor an experience that will raise their level as an artist and enhance their ability as a harpist.

Our goal is to make the Young Artist's Harp Competition accessible to the widest number of harpists possible. Flexibility with repertoire and our open performance philosophy—from a video preliminary audition round to live final performances that are not hidden behind a screen—continue to be a core philosophy of the competition. All aspects of the competition are designed to to be friendly and fair, and all harpists who enter the Young Artist’s Harp Competition will receive a comprehensive, constructive evaluation of their video audition from a highly qualified judging panel. (Please download and become familiar with the evaluation form, as it outlines the same judging criteria that will be in place for the final round of the competition.)

The Young Artist's Harp Competition is held consecutively with the Young Artist's Harp Seminar, which follows July 10–24, 2010. Competitors are not required to attend both events.

Thank you for visiting this site; whether you are a student, parent, teacher, donor, or friend of the harp, we hope to see you at the 2010 Young Artist's Harp Competition!

Sincerely,

Kimberly Rowe
