November 2009; Judging panel announced.

The judging panel for the 2010 Young Artist's Harp Competition has been announced and includes Julie Ann Smith, Ina Zdorovetchi, Marcia Dickstein, Lynne Abbey-Lee, Delaine Fedson, Gillian Benet Sella, Robbin Gordon-Cartier, and Ann Yeung. Read more about the judges.

July 2009; Young Artist's Harp Seminar receives GCA Grant.

The Young Artist's Harp Seminar, which sponsors the Young Artist's Harp Competition, recieved a 2010 Award Grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts, putting YAHS in the company of organizations such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Ballet, and the Atlanta Boychoir, who also received funding. The award will help with seminar and competition expenses in the coming year. "We are thrilled not only to receive this funding, but to have received recognition on the level of these other prestigious arts organizations," say YAHS co-directors Kimberly Rowe and Susan Bennett Brady.

Dates and repertoire have been set for the 2010 Young Artist's Harp Competition. The event will take place July 8-10, 2010 at the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, in Rabun Gap, Ga. The Young Artist's Harp Seminar will follow July 10-24, 2010 at the same location. Click here to view competition repertoire.

Emerging Winners

July, 2008; Young Artist's Harp Competition Winners announced

Seven winners who received prizes totally more than $4,000 were chosen following a live final round that drew 24 competitors from throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The competition took place on July 3 and 4, 2008, in Rabun Gap, Ga. View results here. May 27, 2008—Results of preliminary round posted

The results of the Young Artist's Harp Competition Preliminary DVD Round have been posted. Twelve harpists in each division have been invited to compete in person in Rabun Gap, Ga., from a pool of 35 entries. Entries were received from throughout the U.S., France, Spain, Taiwan, and China. Bridget Kibbey

March 20, 2008–Bridget Kibbey joins judging panel

We're pleased to announce that acclaimed harpist Bridget Kibbey has joined the judging panel of the Young Artist's Harp Competition. New York-based Kibbey maintains an active international performing career and teaches at New York University, Vassar College, and the Juilliard Pre-college program. Kibbey will also conduct a July 6 masterclass as part of the Young Artist's Harp Seminar and offer private lessons on July 5 and 6.

January 2008—Rooms held at Holiday Inn Express

The Young Artist's Harp Competition overlaps with the July 4th holiday weekend, meaning hotel rooms may be scarce. Families are advised to book rooms early. We have block rooms on hold at the Holiday Inn Express in Diallard, Ga. Call them directly at (706) 746-3585 and ask for the Young Artist's Harp Competition group rate. Group dormitory housing at the Rabun Gap Nacoochee School may also be available. Please inquire.

Sept. 1, 2007—Young Artist's Harp Seminar announces competition

The Young Artist's Harp Seminar has announced plans for a national competition, which will take place July 2–8, 2008, just prior to the start of the Young Artist's Harp Seminar. The Competition will include a winners recital on July 5 to coincide with the start of the Seminar.

Sept. 1–2007—Young Artist's Harp Seminar to become non-profit

The Young Artist's Harp Seminar is working to obtain non-profit status in the state of Georgia, in conjunction with plans for the upcoming Young Artist's Harp Competition. Non-profit status will enable YAHS to better seek scholarship and competition funding by offering tax incentives to donors.
